
PTAQ August Workshop: From Ear to Brain with Associate Professor Wayne Wilson

Following his captivating presentation at our recent annual conference, we’re thrilled to welcome Associate Professor Wayne Wilson back to share his expertise with all PTAQ members, especially those who missed out last time.
Join us for an engaging and insightful session as Wayne takes us on a journey through the auditory pathway, exploring how sound travels from the outer ear to the brain. This overview will delve into:
- The anatomy and physiology of hearing
- A touch of pharmacology
- The role of the outer and middle ear in sound reception
- Transduction in the inner ear
- Transmission via the cochlear (auditory) nerve
- Processing in the central auditory nervous system, with a focus on the thalamus and temporal lobe
Wayne is an Associate Professor in Audiology at The University of Queensland, renowned for his work on how the brain processes sound, objective measures of auditory function, and clinical competence in audiology. With over 400 scientific publications and presentations, multiple teaching and service awards, and leadership roles in national and international committees, Wayne brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this session.
