Clarifying IA3

Confirmation Event #2 has wrapped up, the Unit 4 content has been taught, the revision activities have been sourced from supportive colleagues, and the Year 12s are well on their way to their external assessment. If you have lingering questions about marking IA3 or wish to clarify your understanding of application of the ISMG for IA3 – here’s your chance!

This workshop aims to help you square away marking practices for IA3 whilst they’re still fresh in the mind, in preparation for 2023. This will be an online event, hosted through Zoom.

Amanda and Natasha will share some annotated samples of student work, as well as their experiences of marking IA3 to assist with:

  • Identifying what makes a research question “specific” and “relevant”
  • Clarifying the difference between limitations of evidence and quality of evidence
  • Working with the coordinating conjunctions and plurals in the ISMG
  • Applying the ISMG when the student’s access to quality research has been limited
  • Dealing with high similarity scores from sources and exemplars

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions! Please note that this workshop will be delivered from the perspectives and experiences of Psychology teachers, rather than QCAA employees.

Natasha is an AITSL accredited Highly Accomplished Teacher, QCAA Confirmer and External Assessment Marker. She has a greyhound who thinks that he’s some sort of cat/human, and loves life on the coast in beautiful Bargara.
